TIMELINES

post-sburb:
earth c! instead of all of the kids and trolls being considered genuine kings and queens, they're more considered figureheads or celebrities; it's an honorary position. dave's the official diplomat for the troll kingdom and actually surprisingly involved in the government. while everyone he played sburb with is still in the best friend category, he's definitely branched out in terms of hanging out. still, he's having a hard time adjusting to 'normal life', so he tends to fill his time with learning anything he can think of or really annoying people with his economic rambles. officially lives with karkat, but it's not surprising for him to sleep in someone else's house. he also has a bad habit of jumping around earth c's history without any warning.
game over:
a lot of unresolved issues here. never got to talk things out with dirk, never got to sit down with like... half his friends, still has a lot of issues with how he views himself. he blames himself pretty heavily for not being able to save the timeline even if it was like, super out of his control.
grimdark:
very rarely used, but! a dave that ended up making a deal with the horrorterrors that backfired hard on his timeline. in return for getting a power boost, he pretty much traded away most of his ability to like... care about anything, lol, and now that he's dead the effects linger. has a tendency to speak eldritch when he's annoyed or if it's funny, and is a lot harder to legitimately befriend.
typical rp timeline:
the exact details vary, but it's an off-shoot of the game over timeline more often than not, just kii-flavored. you have to get the specific details from dave himself. :)
HEADCANONS (cont)

> the palms of his hands are completely burnt and he can hardly feel anything with them. that goes for a lot of his body, unfortunately, since his abundance of scars. he'll still say 'ow' if you do something he thinks would hurt because it's funny.
> as part of his ascension, he got a glimpse into a ton of other timelines. while he didn't get a hard look in, he knows a lot about his other deaths mainly as a back-up function for time players so they don't make the same mistake twice. equally, he also has a lot of death scars, which are pretty easily differentiated from his other ones because it looks like they suddenly closed and never healed.
> he's triggered by blood and the sound of metal hitting metal. if he's busy doing something, he'll shove down reacting to it for later, though that means he dissociates for a while.
> speaking of dissociating... if he's overwhelmed, triggered, or simply unable to just be there mentally, he'll tend to zone out, which he calls "clocking out". depending on the situation, he'll either be near silent or very flat-toned and straight-faced like a robot.
> has violent impulses due to his childhood. he hates acting on them, but they flare up pretty often, especially when he's incredibly pissed off. more prone to actually acting on them when he's dissociating.
> acts a bit more responsible than your typical dave. too many bad experiences to be 100% bullshitting all the time.
> talking about his problems makes him anxious. he doesn't like the idea of making any of his friends feel worse, especially when it comes to his own issues. he'll try to avoid it as much as possible.
> loyal... to a fault. it's not too hard to take advantage of him if you're friends, for better or worse.
> always saves food for later, though he doesn't need to eat when he's dead.
> can't trust people with anything sharp behind him. he cuts his own hair.
> he struggles to moderate his emotions, which means they're usually all or nothing. it's something he's still working on, but he never exactly learned how to control his anger as a kid or anything else for that matter.
> depending on the timeline, he thinks he's better off dead due to how many mistakes he's made and that his friends are happier without him.
